Steven George Gerrard was born on the 30th May 1980. The player (who turns 30 this year) plays for both Liverpool and the England national team. Mostly he plays as a center midfielder however since 2007 he was been playing as a second striker for Liverpool. When playing for England he plays as a winger.

Unlike many players that swap teams depending on pay and conditions Gerrard has play for Liverpool throughout is whole career. He made his debut at Anfield in 1998 and got a place in the first team back in 2000. In 2003 he took over from Sami Hyppia as the Liverpool Team Captain

Gerrard is recognized as a phenomenal player and honors include, double league cup wins, two FA cup wins a UEFA Champions league win and a UEFA cup win. Recently he was given the Football Writers Association Footballer Of The Year Award, which he still holds.

He has played for English since 2000 and in 2006 was the team’s top goal scorer during the FIFA World Cup.

In is personal life he is married to Alex Curran and they celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary this year. Football runs in the family and he has a cousin (Anthony) who is a player for Cardiff City Football Club.

He released an autobiography in 2006. Titled “Gerrard: My Autobiography” it went onto be recognized at the British Book Awards winning the Sports Book Of the Year award

Player Profile: Michael Owen

Michael James Owen plays as a striker for Manchester United and also England. Born on the 14th December 1979 he is the son of former professional footballer Terry Owen. He was originally signed up to the Liverpool youth team & scored on his debut in May 1997. In fact in is first Premier League full season he finished as joint top scorer. He has suffered with a recurring hamstring injury but despite this he was top scorer from 1997-2004 for Liverpool.

He as gone on to win many football accolades including the Ballon d’Or award. Whilst playing for Liverpool his team won the FA Cup, the Football League Cup and the UEFA cup all in one year.

In 2004 Owen made the decision to move to Real Madrid. However this was short lived and he soon returned to Newcastle United and England. He suffered another on going injury he was team captain and the team’s top scorer for 2007-2008.

In 2009 Owen left Newcastle United and made the move to Manchester United, the team he has played for since.

Owen started his football career at a young age and has since become one of the recognizable faces of English football and in turn has become a pin up for teenage girls up and down the country as well as being respected for his football skills. What the future holds for him we don’t know but he has played for many of the major UK teams, England and Real Madrid so he is comfortable playing under pressure.

Player Profiles: David Beckham

Born on the 2nd May 1975 David Robert Joseph Beckham is probably one of the most recognizable English football players. Since her married Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ Addams the couple has gone onto become most of the most famous celebrity couples in the world.

Beckham current is signed to the Los Angeles Galaxy team however is on loan to Milan’s football team as a midfielder.

Proving just how popular the Beckham brand is in 2004 he was actually the world’s highest paid footballer & he has twice gone on to be the FIFA World Player Of The Year. For two consecutive running he was the highest sports search on Googles search engine. He now partakes in many advertising brands and is a world reendowed fashion icon.

Within his football career he was captain of the England football team for around 6 years. His 100th cap was against France on the 26th March 2008 and he capped for the team a total of 115 times.

He first singed for Manchester United and made his debut at just 17 back in 1992. He won the Premier League title six times, the FA cup twice and the UEFA champions League.

He then left Manchester united to play for Real Madrid. He played for them for a total of four seasons. He left them in January 2007 to sign for Los Angeles Galaxy making him the highest paid Major League Soccer player ever earning him around $6.5 per year.
